My first (but certainly not my last) Banya was just after lockdown ii of 2020 & I really only booked it to give a fun winter birthday treat to my friend. I love the heat of Saunas in the winter and have enjoyed the traditional Hungarian baths & plunge pools before, so this seemed to combine the two elements and sounded fun. As it turns out, I could say, this was totally, totally different and I could not recommend it more highly to all as the perfect combination of relaxed but invigorating, de-toxification of mind, body & skin.
The stresses of 2020 life were literally steamed, rinsed and rhythmically beaten from my body by deftly handled steamed oak branches. I might describe a Perenie akin to having your body compressed in soft clouds of hot air before being gently & rhythmically buffeted all over by a steamy hot breeze by soft scented leaves, then cooled off by a cold rainstorm. After being thoroughly de-scaled with a delicious scented salt & honey scrub, pampered with a mud mask & foot soak & re-hydrated with Russian Tea I was ready to go back into the world with a big smile on my face thanks to Banya’s talented ‘Silver service’ team x
